You need a visa

Americans traveling to Turkey must have a valid passport and a visa to visit Turkey. How to get it? It is very easy. Sticker visas for visits up to 90 days can be purchased at airports for about $20, according to the Embassy of the United States at Ankara. Visits longer than that require a visa obtained from a Turkish embassy or a consular office. Visitors from countries such as Germany, Canada, Morocco, New Zealand and Norway may stay up to 3 months without a visa as long as they have a valid passport. Travellers from countries like Croatia and some Slovakian countries may stay up to 2 months, while those from South Africa, Bolivia, Kazakhstan and the Maldives can stay 1 month. Always check the entry requirement with the Turkish consulate or embassy as there may have been some changes.

You need an adapter

If you travel from outside Europe, the USA or the UK, get a plug adapter or converter before land in Turkey. The standard European plugs and electrical sockets are 220 volts there. Many quality hotels in Turkey offer North American style sockets and 120 volt, but they may be expensive to purchase there.

Have some cash with you

The Turkish currency is Turkish Lira. You will be able to withdraw money from an ATM using your MasterCard, Visa or Maestro credit cards. The ATMs will dispense up to €350 per day. However, American Express cards are usually not accepted. However, if you bring some cash in dollars with you, they will be relatively easy to exchange to liras. Do not be worried about the tooth implant price in Turkey. You can still save on dental care there – even 50%! Turkey is the perfect place for affordable dental implants.

Fly cheap to Turkey

There are many international airports in Turkey. The biggest include: the Esenboğa International Airport in Ankara and the Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul. Choose from airlines: US Airways, Korean Air, British Airways, Air France, Lufthansa, Aeroflot, KLM, Royal Jordanian or Finnair.
