There are no contraindications to have an MRI scan done when having dental implants. MRI scanners use powerful magnets to scan the body to show the image of soft tissue. MRI can cause problems with objects containing ferrous metals (e.g. iron or steel). However, dental implants are made from non-ferrous metal, titanium, which is not magnetic. This also extends to hip and knee replacements, plates, screws, and rods used to treat fractured bones or cavity fillings. They are all safe to have while undergoing MRI scan.

However, it is still recommended to consult the doctor who ordered the MRI and, also, the technician performing the scan. You should inform them about any implants or metal prostheses you may have in your mouth and body.
